Hi everyone,

I'm just getting started with reef keeping. I'm in the research phase and hope to have my first tank within a year. I'm likely going to start with a set up from Biota Aquariums. I can provide a link to their site if anyone is interested and it doesn't violate any forum rules.

Once I get enough experience with reefs, I eventually want to keep mandarins, Tridacna clams, and bird's nest coral.

Non-reef related, I've been a reptile keeper and breeder for decades, but now just have a small collection of snakes and tarantulas.

I'm happy to have discovered this forum!

Cheers,

Very cool! I used to breed a lot of bearded dragons. Great lizards.

Welcome. I used to breed Red Tail Boas. And I have had what might be considered a small farm for my entire life. Love Exotics of all types. What type of snakes do you breed?

Nothing this year. I have a pair of Chihuahua mountain kingsnakes (L. p. knoblochi) that I've bred twice before. I also have a Brazilian rainbow boa, a corn snake, and three tarantulas. I'm familiar with the "small farm" phenomenon.

Welcome!
Love your avatar by the way :)

Thanks! That's our cat Henry with a stuffed animal he carries around. We call it his lizard baby.

Thanks to everyone for the greetings! I'm looking forward to learning a lot and being part of a new community.

Rainbow boas are nice. I've always wanted to try an emerald tree boa but could never afford one. LOL

Emeralds have come down in price, as long as you don't want the Amazon Basin variety. Non-Basin ones are well under a grand now. Still expensive, but cheaper than before. And cheaper than a reef!
