OK, so I got 2 Gyre XF330 wave makers
I got my RODI system (about to get it installed)
I purchased 4 bags of 40lb Carrib Sea live Sand (210g tank. I think I need 2 more bags)
Need to get a powerhead (LFS can get it dirt cheap) for my 55g Drum to stir up future water
Working on lights (Hydra 26HDs on ebay. May need to get one more. 72 x 30 tank)
Getting Live Rock, refractor, from LFS
Heaters I have
And Salt. I am seriously debating Fritz, Tropic Marin, and IO Crystal Reef. I know if I go TM, I will have to buy several buckets at a time just to be ready if they run out like they have done in the past.

Am I missing anything.

Do you use filter sock(s)? If so maybe spare so you can rotate clean in while dirty getting washed.

Think you should wait on more sand UNLESS you have jawfish plans and undergravel filtration (no one new seems to do undergravel filtration, but if you have a 3"-4"+ sand bed potential anaerobic toxins build up)... so think you may already have too much sand (for "normal" setup)

Might need more powerheads. I have 2 reefer 45 gyres and 2 mp40's for a 79x25 tank. For salt, I have fritz and some older salt from LA. Also ordering a box of reef crystals. Plan to use the RC and LA sand first and then go to fritz. Just a bit too costly to start up.

I agree, I have the xf350s on my 120g and I dream of adding a mp40 or two down low.

If I may make a suggestion; get a regular pump for water mixing rather than the powerhead. Does the same job, but you can use the pump to move water to the DT or another container too. Depends on how you're planning to do water changes, but it makes it very simple for me to pump water directly from storage to the DT.

Ok I did not think of it like that. Thank you for the heads up. What pump are you using

I was told 1:1 sand per tank size. Am I thinking about this the wrong way?

Interesting - never heard that... with bare bottom tanks being so popular (I'm not a fan) that really throws that statistic out the window... Personal preference (and plans for sand dwellers and which ones) has always been my guide on sand. For instance, my six line wrasse needs enough to cover body to sleep, but I decided my 180g is too big to put jawfish and the needed undergravel filtration to prevent dead anaerobic spots in deep sand my dream blue spotted jawfish would pile (everywhere).

Your question had me go back to this great reference book type article and look to see what they said on sand... Sand is mentioned 27 times, but within "interior" section will give you good information (though general):
