Hi everyone I’m new to this wonderful site and I have a question? I’ve had lots of tanks in the past mostly fish and anemone. Started with growing coral a few years ago with metal halidies and powe compacts. Now my new setup is LED’s and really don’t need my chiller anymore. I keep my house at 76 and found I needed to put heater in tank to keep water at 77-78. I manually dose calcium and alkalinity, mag and iodine. I add strontium every week just a capful. I feed coral with acro power , reef roofs and hand feed sun coral and Duncan’s clam along with its my bubble tip anemone. Is there any other suggestions you guys can give me ? I do water changes every other week . 30 gallons Red Sea mix. Here is a couple pics of my tank. Thanks guys for any help.

#MODS

Please move to better forum for responses.
It’s kind of a general topic. Where would you suggest we move it? I think this forum is appropriate since it doesn’t really touch on anything specific.

When I looked at it it was in the Contest forum. unless I'm seeing things & that's possible. lol

Lol! It’s in the reef discussion forum now. It very well could have been moved by someone else before I got to it as well :)

Your tank looks great, and no need for additional tech than what you have already. I spent $xxk on my current setup, with all the bells and whistles, set up for a year now almost, and not doing nearly as well as the frag grow out that is dosed and topped off manually.

Do maintenance consistently, and you will be good. There are a million ways to automate your system, but there will always be a trade-off. Take your time and do the research - until then, your tank will be fine.

In the spirit of answering your question, most of your time-consuming tasks can be automated, and only a few things that are relatively new....

1. Auto top off (most I think will recommend Tunze or Neptune Apex)
2. Auto water changes - (most I think Spectrapure, Neptune Apex (water change module))
3. Automatic 2/3 part dosing (Neptune DOS, Spectrapure, GHL, Bubble Magus/Jaebo (much less reliable))
4. Automatic calcium reactor dosing (assuming you utilize pH controller) - Large initial investment to do this proper.
5. Automatic Alk/Ca/Mg testing (Neptune Trident, GHL, Mindstream (I think mindstream measures a few other parameters - many threads if you do a search), Seneye (for ammonia, pH))
5. Neptune Apex, GHL (I'm sure there are others folks will also recommend) for general outlet/temp/pH/ORP monitoring and control. The Neptune Apex comes ready to connect to WiFi unlike the older models.

I just ordered a Jae I dosed . I’ve seen that trident and apex just my pockets are not that deep eventually I can get there ? I got a ago just a cheap one was going to hook up a gravity fed tank to it but just was told that’s not a good idea ? Because ATO’ fail and could dump a bunch of fresh water into the tank? So I haven’t set that up until I learn more about it ? Thank you for the helpful information
