Hi all,

I don't have much experience with electricity so forgive me for my ignorance. The pastweek my GFCI has tripped twice and im having trouble isolating the problem.. I currently have the wall plug in GFCI hooked up to my apex and it tripped the first time a few days ago at around 12:00pm. I came home, it turned GFCI turned on fine. I must have unplugged and replugged everything about 20 times individually, having everything on at once, everything I could think of and could not get it to trip again. It was fine for about 72 hours and tripped again today, around 12:10. I'm not sure if the timing is a coincidence but I checked my apex and nothing seems to coordinate with turning on/off around that time. Could something external on the same circuit be tripping it?

I'm not sure what my next steps would be other than maybe considering its a faulty GFCI? I did have a grounding probe as well that i removed today hoping that was the source of my problem so I will see if that will fix it.

Thanks!

It's been my experience that they go bad. You can try unplugging stuff one by one to trace the issue, but you said it takes many hours to trip. If I was you I would replace it to see if that works. If it still trips then your only option is to look for obvious signs like bare wires or or things getting hot or smelling odd. Things that trip gfci's may not be obvious.
