So sometime during the night my GFCI went off!!!!! There's a power head that I have connected to a different outlet, so everything at least had movement. But the tank temp dropped from 79 to 68.6... And of course this has to happen the night after I put in a clam and a new acan.

Everything is on right now. And starting to warm back up.

So I was talking to my SO and he didn't know. Is there anything that I can hook up to make an alarm go off when the gfci goes off? And no, I can't afford an apex, I have just an RKL and its on the gfci, of course.

I am REALLY glad I had one of my powerheads on another circuit! I don't know how long the power was off for. Less than 8 hours, but long enough for 125 gallons to drop to room temp.

It seems to me that some UPSs used for computers make a noise on a power cut. Uninterruptible Power Supplies.

You would need to be home though to hear it. I just got a used Apex Jr for my little tank for the same reason. I was fortunate enough to catch it sooner.

The $50 battery backup that I bought at office depot makes a really loud noise when the power goes out and is low on battery. Assuming you're not 5 rooms away, it'll be pretty audible. Two birds, as they say

well, my room is far enough away I can barely hear the alarm for the auto topoff when it goes off. Its a hydor, so whenever it doesn't fill fast enough or somehow overfills it goes off. I COULD just hook it up onto a seperate system with a different gfci and I might hear it.

I'm pretty lucky with power outages. They usually only last an hour up here. I can't even figure out what tripped the gfci this morning/last night. Everything powered back up, nothing broke.
