So I’m replacing my normal 120v outlets with GFCI. Since I’ve got multiple outlets on this circuit, do I have to replace all the outlets I plan on using for the tank, or just the first one? Ideally the first one should protect the entire circuit whether the other outlets are GFCI or not. Right?

I am no electrician but in my bathrooms only the first outlets are on the gfci.

In my bathroom they’re all GFCI. Hmmm... I just wanna make sure that if something goes south on a piece of equipment (not on its own GFCI) that it’ll kick the one GFCI I installed first in the circuit. Does that make sense?

Yes, the first GFCI will protect the other outlets on that circuit.
Make sure it’s wired correctly or you won’t have protection on the other outlets.

There are two ways to wire them, just that outlet or all in that circuit protected after that GFCI, you need to make sure you wire it correctly, and test each outlet after. Also it must be installed first of the outlets if you want all them to be GFCI protected and you must also connect the wires specifically for that. The last thing you want is to think an outlet is protected and it is not. Follow the instructions that came with it at the very least, or have someone that is familiar install and test.

There's a line and load on the back when you wire it...power comes into line.

If you want everything after it protected, put the rest on load. Pro- one gfci protects rest of the outlets Con - if it trips they all lose power.

You can also put the additional outlets on the line side, and make each one it's own gfci outlet. Pro- each one has individual protection Con- more gfci outlets is more $$$
