SO I remember reading a few times the ppl where/are having issues with GFI outlets on there tanks and apex gear?

is this true?
reason i ask is I redid a fixer up ( complete gut ) and added a 20amp arch fault breaker just for the tank a RS 650P. the plan was adding a GFI but then I remember something abut people having issues with some reefing gear I believe it was controllers and the apex??

so what's the story?

My apex is running just fine on a 20 amp service and gfci outlet. I wouldn’t run a tank without a gfci. Some don’t like them because they can trip if a piece of equipment is leaking power and if you don’t notice then your tank could crash over it. I’d rather know something is faulty and fix it. With the heartbeat feature of the Apex you’re actually better off in this scenario as it will notify you if the power goes out, so you will know right away if the gfci trips.

anyone else have thoughts on this?

First poster hit it all; you either favor safety or your system, gfci will protect you from electronics but could possibly crash system if it blew while you were away. Heartbeat on apex helps this.

I have apex hooked into Gfci no issues.

yeah i;ll have to set up heart beat for sure. we normally travel for 3-4 weeks once a year and I did not want gear that was supposed to keep me and the tank safe to cause a crash.
