GFO and corals

Hello,

About to set up a reef tank and have a question. I want to prevent to the best of my ability algae. I was thinking about running GFO to prevent it but what will this do to coral since they need phosphates to grow/ thrive. What have some of you done to prevent algae and have great coral success?

With a newly set up tank, you would have to let it settle for some time and test your water frequently before going after nutrients such as P04. And adding corals. Once you have a little time knowing what is in it, you can they act accordingly.
