How do i know if GFO is still useable? How often should I change it out? Also, I am thinking of doing 1 month GFO 1 month carbon.

Last question. I also have Phosban- any value to using as opposed to GFO?

You can either watch the tank (I do that by algae on the glass), or you can measure the phosphate in the GFO reactor effluent, or you can monitor phosphate in the tank water. One month may be fine if phosphate is quite low, but if it is high it can deplete in a day or less.

Phosban is a brand of GFO. :)

Thanks. I thought it was. Expensive stuff :)
