GFO interfering with skimmer foam head

I have a Reef Octo Regal 200 running on my 180. For the past few weeks, I would get a half cup or so of thick stinky skimmate every few days. This changed when I got around to plumbing in my phosban reactor and getting my gfo rolling.

Has anyone else had a similar issue with gfo affecting their skimmer performance? I have not had this issue before. My skimmer is FULL of micro bubbles, but it doesn't build a head at all. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

What were your nutrient levels prior to adding the GFO? Possible the GFO is removing the nutrients and your skimmer has little to nothing to skim?
