GFO Reactor Question

How tight do you pack your GFO in your reactor? The reactors that have the sponge on the top and bottom if they are packed tight the GFO doesn't agitate at all. Is just passing through the GFO good or should I leave an inch between the gfo and top sponge so it can tumble a bit???

Yes leave room so it can tumble slightly.
