gfo use with np pro and pro bio s

before I start using np pro and pro bio s for high nitrates should I discontinue gfo reactor?

Mike, GFO can be used along side dosing. In fact, I actually stack Zeomix, AF Carbon, and Phosphate Minus in one single reactor. I change all medias monthly and start fresh. This method is excellent for water clarity and clarification. I also use AF Life Bio Fil as a biological media to further expand the surface area for bacteria homing. I run 0.00 PO4 and 0.25 NO3 I do not full dose AF NP Pro and Pro Bio S at this point, only half dose. I have also tuned down my reactor effluent to rise nutrients a spot. Cheers

This depends on your system's ability to break down nutrients to begin with, NP Pro and Pro Bio S will help to enhance the lowering of nutrients. In some cases, they may not be enough, this depends again on your system, and it's import vs. export capabilities. Higher bio loads may need more bacteria homing surface area, and additions of zeolites, but this will be determined by your bio load. All in all, on an existing mature tank, I would imagine results are usually visual with corals within a couple of weeks to several weeks. Patience is key here
