Will a 1/2 cup of BRS regular GFO extract phosphate faster or slower than a 1/2 cup of aluminum beads?

Are you trying to lower fast, or slow?

This is a complex question that will certainly depend on how you flow the water over and through the media, and I expect these issues will predominate over the media itself.

Also, when many people say one media lowers phosphate "faster" what they really mean is "lower level attained before depletion" which is not the same thing as rate of reduction.
