So I have a 40g fuge with a good amount of cheato, would adding gfo be a waste?

I have an sps Dom tank

I recently tried GFO. 1/3 the recommended amount by BRS. i lost most of my chalices, 2 prized showpiece multicolored trachys, all my acans. i would stick with au natural as what i'm going back to. basics.

Long time ago I jumped head first into the gfo craze while it does work.I did notice if you just load up your reactor and drop it in there will be some side affects.Take baby steps ween them off slowly 3/4 cup,1/2 cup 1 cup cause while your corals do use some phos gfo will strip it out the water too fast for them to adjust.

I run carbon and gfo, When I get my cheato going , can I ween my tank off the stuff?

thanks for posting. I have always thought au natural is best but didn't have the experience with corals.

It could be.. Do you have a algae problem? If you dont then it would be a waste. If it aint broke dont change it.

There are allot of ways to lower phosphates. Why add something to your tank that complicates it and cost money if you dont need it.

If with a fuge you still have algae problems then gfo can help for sure.

I only have an algae problem in my fuge! Lol. My cheato doesn't seem to be growing but still green. There's other algae in there that's growing.
