Hi there,
I’m using gfo to remove phos. I had a huge GHA outbreak which eventually got treated with vibrant and nutrients kept extremely low/0 for months. Once the GHA was gone I got a Dino outbreak. After a black out period my phos shot up from zero to 0.4 in three days. I just left it for a couple weeks to let the tank have a break, now trying to bring it down a bit. After 3 days of gfo it’s at 0.1. I def don’t want it to bottom out again and I don’t want to chase numbers, but I don’t want another algae outbreak either. So should I remove the gfo now or leave it in? Try to bring it down to the 0.03-0.05 range or is 0.1 okay? How much phos can gfo absorb before its “full?”
I’m not trying to micromanage my tank to death. But these last two issues have been so big and stressful and costly and time-consuming that I was borderline throwing in the towel. Now I’m just looking to get my tank to a happy, healthy place that I can sustain with minimal dosing/interference.
