So my own fault.... I have had tank for 3+ years and been in the hobby for 7. I recently moved and when I set my tank back up i neglected it for a couple of months :( I started to get GHA and one day I noticed it was really bad. All my fish died and the tank crashed. I was confused because I still did occasional water changes and have done this in the past and never had these problems. Long story short mt TDS meter was broke on my RODI and i figured because I put all new filters in it I was in the clear. But turns out I hooked it up incorrect and was putting my waste water in my tank... I fixed 2 weeks ago and have done 1 50% water change and doing another tonight. But this stuff is growing so fast. Any thoughts? 210 gallon tank with 50 gallon sump.

Once a tank gets to this point, it needs a lot of elbow grease to bounce back.

I would start by rip cleaning the entire thing. Scrub rocks, remove and rinse sand, place back in the tank with a 3 day blackout period and then start gradually reintroducing to light.

This will greatly reduce the amount of excess algae to the point you and a large clean up crew could start to turn this around with daily maintenance and siphoning.

At this point, i wouldnt hesitate to use the slip and slide out back lol.
The algae is so bad and there looks to be no viable coral.

The tap water wont kill your BB, you just might lose some micro fauna and coralline.

Atleast not enough to worry about your cycle stalling.

If your algea is so bad your coral is visibly suffering, is the one time I like a 10% of the recommended dose of fluconazole. 10% is enough I promise. It still works. But you have to feed through this. And you have to skim, and you have to collect the dying algea.

It's best to manually pull as much as possible then treat it. Keep the lights on your normal schedule.

this is a reasonable approach!

It's not enough to blast your tank to dinos and cyano while killing GHA. But it's a huge helping hand and let's you see that you are winning. Takes about a week or so for it to start really killing it back at a low dose.

For the record. I'm just a moron. I'm not an expert. This is just the approach that worked safely for me, in a similar situation.

Capsules are what I buy. Any brand. There are also OTC products that contain fluconazol but other things as well. I haven't used them in this manner. I don't know if they work at 10%. People also use the tablets like I do. They just crush them to a powder. I haven't done that because at the time we didn't know what binders were in the tablets.

I don't know about Amazon. Search fluconazole capsules. lots of people selling online. Also, let's of vets will issue a script if you tell them what you are doing with it. It's cheap that way, if they don't require an appointment.
