Hello All!

I run a 65g mixed reef. The tank has zero algae (except coralline and film on the glass).. EXCEPT, i have a LR which came with ~a dozen or so neon green palys which i assume are toxic and GHA has grown between all of them. It's the ONLY spot in the tank with GHA. I want to hit it with a toothbrush but i'm worried i'll disturb the palys and cause some sort of chemical reaction.

Thoughts on this?

So I shouldn’t be concerned with disturbing the palys?

No. If your referring to palytoxins this only occurs when your fragging unsafely or you boil a rock with them on it

Yes, that is what i'm referring to. Thanks for the information. I'm going to see if i can remove the GHA w/ a toothbrush.

If the rock is able to be removed from the tank, then prepare a 10% solution of h202 and submerge rock completely for 5 minutes. After soak, brush off debris and return to tank.

Unfortunately the rock is large and supports a lot of other LR and coral. I would rather leave the GHA in that only spot than risk moving the rock.

Understand this about most undesirable algae, spores will spread thru the water column when conditions favor reproduction.
