Looks like bryopsis to me. Voice of experience. Sorry.

depends. Some areas come off with a touch and some stick. Its weird.

Look at the strands. GHA tends to be single strands, where bryposis branches off from the strand. Looks to me like that's what I see. @vetteguy53081, what do you think? If it's bryopsis, it can be very difficult to beat. Again, voice of experience.

Its bryopsis. First pull what you can by hand - More the better.
Then using a dental pick or small crochet needle, pull off the roots. YOU MUST remove roots or it will keep coming back.
You can then reduce white light intensity . Add cleaners to finish cleanup such as Emerald crabs (which I do not trust, LG astrea snails. chiton snails, Pitho crabs, and pin cushion urchins.
IF you CANT get to all the roots, although I do not favor use of - Fluconasal (FLUX) will work.

That looks like GHA how bad is it?I have a close up picture of a nuisance algae taking over my tank. What algae is it? Thanks

You could have both growing in the tank. I thought mine was a GHA jungle but it looked like some briopsis mixed in with mine to. The GHA pulled off easily and the other was difficult to detach.

it seams thats the case for me. I have in fact noticed different features in the algae in different areas of the tank. Thanks for your help

My tank was covered and mu standard cleaner crew couldn't deal with it. I added 3 tuxedo urchins and 2 turbo snails and raised my magnesium to 1500. They stripped the tank clean in 3 weeks with my manual removal also.it seams thats the case for me. I have in fact noticed different features in the algae in different areas of the tank. Thanks for your help

I'd recommend natural remedies before nuking the tank with chemicals. This often opens the door to other problems.

You need urchins and a few turbo snails along with manual removal and magnesium at 1500. I dose no hard chemicals in my reef.

I have had bad experience with urchins. Any other options? The one I have right now is starving and lost almost all his spines. hes been in a cave for a week now, probably dead. I dont understand how it could have starved, when theres so much algae. Its a pincushion urchin. I had a temperature drop by 10 F a month ago but he seemed fine then, so idk.
