Can anyone help guide me on what this is and how to control it?

It's not growing on my rock work at all and only seems to be growing on the sand bed. I think it's different to what's growing on the back wall which I don't mind as a background. The hair stuff I definitely want to get rid of.

It does seem to be in lower flow areas and I've tried to point a powerhead more towards it but that just blows craters in the sand.

I was changing about 15% water every 2 weeks but over the last couple of months have slowed that to monthly, as parameters were all good.

Current details as follows:

RO water for top off and salt - 0 TDS
PH 8.1
PO4 0.1 (as close as I can tell with Red Sea kit)
NO3 0
Salinity 1.025
Alk 8.7
Ca 430
Mg 1300

I've just removed a load of it but I guess it's likely to return.

Any ideas? Many thanks in advance.

Paul

The p04 looks high when compared to the nitrate being at 0. IMO manual removal and then looks like phos removal/balance to solve the regrowth rate.

My Nitrates used to be around 10 for the first 3 months after cycling but then suddenly dropped to 0 and have never come back. Phos is hard to tell with the RS kit but looks closest to 0.1.

I'm cutting back my lighting schedule a little and will WC every 2 weeks again. Also cutting back from 3 feeds to 2 and will more regularly turkey baster the rocks and sand. I've taken a great deal of it out too so I guess I'll see what happens next.
