I know green hair algae (Derbesia) is a pest but thought you might like seeing a picture of the species in my sump/refugium preparing for sexual reproduction. The second photomicrograph shows a bud in the process of forming.

It's certainly giving me fits at the moment but I think I'm starting to make headway. Is there anyway to inhibit sexual reproduction of GHA and therefore make manual removal more effective as a way to beat it?

I have no idea about inhibiting sexual reproduction, but dosing Reef Flux killed all of the gha in my tank.
