No matter what I do my green hair algae and turf algae won't go away.

My tank is 3 years old at this point. My nutrients bottomed out resulting the growth of algae and no matter what I do the last year it won't go away.

Phosphate just above 0
Nitrate 5
Mag 1400
Calcium 500
Alk 7 dkh

Tank is bare bottom 30 gallons

I've added additional clean up crew, emerald crabs, bristletooth tang. Just seems is starts on my eggshell racks and spreads an no hermits snails get there.

I don't know what else to do / add at this time. An urchin ?

An urchin should solve the issue. Varigated or tuxedo urchin. Lowering phosphates makes it worse in my experience, as it allows the turf to dominate. Turf can survive at low levels of po4, while other types of algae seem to die off. Just know, this won't eradicate the algae, as you will always need to have an urchin in there to manage it, but it will remove the unwanted visibility of it.

Despite everything that's been written, Vibrant worked for me twice.
I dosed, waited a couple of weeks, saw the GHA started to turn gray and then I vacuumed daily. After a few more weeks of waiting, it was dying in huge patches.
I went through this twice, nothing in my tank died.

It works. My parameters have been solid and no GHA.

Good luck.

Good advice right here!

I've tried vibrant no success

2 yrs old and I have the same problem. Vibrant made it worse. NoPox seems to be making it weaker but pulling it by hand is a pain and it just comes back. My nitrates are a little high usually testing at 5-10ppm but has always been that way. My phosphates are at .1-.5 when I test.

I am using chemipure blue right now but still got the issues. I have 1 Astrea, 1 strawberry conch (who is my best cleaner but wants nothing to do with the longer algae).

Frustrated by it.
