hello fellow reefers, I have a breakout of GHA. I purchased some hydrogen peroxide from my local CVC but the GHA seems to be immune to it. Is the store grade not effective on the GHA. I am using a syringe a slowly squirting it directly into the algae but very of it seems effected. I am doing something wrong? please help its getting bad. I know my phosphates got a little high which caused the outbreak but its back to normal now. uugghh it looks crappy all over the rocks!

I would start with as much manual removal as possible. Up your cuc and water changes that’s how I got my gha in check.

I have a GHA problem I'm currently working through and it seems to be slowing down. What I have done was skipped a water change for two weeks,as I was doing it weekly. Than I added one big dose of vibrant over the two weeks. This was 2ml spilt over 4 days. During this time I also make sure to change my filter pads and floss more frequently. Clean up crew in 20g is 1 pincushion urchin and some snails. I Will adding some other things for sand soon. I have done a 48 hour black out(no lights on) twice to let cuc work a little more, it also slows the gha growth. I'll try and post pictures for comparison when I get home. It's slow but seems to be working. My lfs said with this method it could take up to six weeks to be some what balanced again.

The peroxide can be used oppositely than original post, the feed for the gha is likely still in the sand or rocks

What you are really in for: Hand cleaning, hard work siphon and rasp-removing of accumulations and invasions outside the tank and doing massive water changes is 90% of this thread, peroxide is 10%. We almost never dose peroxide into the tank water, this is a you-work-physically-hard as catch-up...

the number one thing we don’t do is add peroxide to algae underwater. We clean the tank that feeds the gha, after a test rock of external control shows promise.
