Whole tank treatment I wouldn't bother. If you can remove the rock and treat outside the tank that works. Small direct dose with a syringe works underwater. If you have a lot either go down the line with getting a cleanup crew to eat it or, just dose Fluconazole. My preference is Fluconazole and get rid of it fast. Also fix your nutrient issue so it doesn't happen again.
If you want to get off a frag or coral that you can remove that you want to get algae off of. You can be really careful and pore it directly on the plug/rock and not the coral and it will basically melt off. If you have a tank full of algae, then there are several things you can do. First is get a good clean up crew as stated. Then you need to determine what is causing the algae and attack that second. Correct the problem.
Once you have done that you can starve the algae to death with whatever method you want or you can treat with vibrant as well.
