GHL ION Director (Review Needed)

Hi R2R folks,

As probably a lot of you out there, I am confused between Trident, Alkatronic and ION Director.

As of right now I favor ION director more, since it uses NO REAGENTS which is really interesting but no reviews yet (There is one guy on YouTube who reviews it but its in German i believe)

ALSO I have almost all Neptune products BUT the Trident.

Opinions or Experiences?? Please

What are you wanting to test? The ion director still hasn’t released and doesn’t test alkalinity, you will need a kh Director for that. I have a trident and love it. I have read a lot of great reviews on alkatronic.

So I am in the market for a alkalinity controller, first on my list is the trident, I am curious peoples impressions of these units especially if owned more than 1. So the pros I have read so far, trident is easy to setup, has a standard calibration fluid to verify accuracy and works with my...

The ION director is not released yet so there will not be any reviews.

Test ALK, CA, Mg, Nitrates and Phos

Basically I am just trying to say, which test family i should be with lol.

I am definitely not getting rid of my Apex 2016, I absolutely love it.

But couple of my buddies who run the trident are pretty upset with Neptune for being OUT OF STOCK For 6 month supply for the past 1 year (My friend said that 6 month stock was just 3x2 month pack tied together - which makes me sad that they dont think about customers)

Yes I understand that frustration! For all those test you will need the kh and ion Director, still won’t get phosphate with it though. I barely test my phosphate and nitrates and my acros grow well with a stable alk. I think alkatronic is coming out with a mastertronic to go with alkatronic as well

Yeah they did, Mastertronic which is retailing for $1399 and uses salifate and API reagents as of right now.

ION director checks Calcium, Magnesium, Potassium, Sodium and Nitrate

What did you end up purchasing for yourself? I have a feeling from what I have read so far in that thread - You went with Alkatronic

Trident!! Wow!!! I really thought you would go with Alkatronic. What made you make that decision? Even though alk has cheaper reagent as well...

I worried about The noise level, being able to use my DOS with it, and my limited under cabinet space.

I don't think GHL does Beta testing in the USA so I doubt you will get an answer.
From what I understand they have probably just cleared the Alpha testing stages so don't look for any detailed info until January. They say the unit will be out in January or February but I suspect it will be the latter.

And why not? @robbyg you can't know it

But you won't know anything anyway as it is obvious that the beta testers are under NDA.

It's funny how stuff can get slightly messed up in translation., but I get what your trying to say.
If you ever find a USA beta tester for the Profilux 4 or Kh Director I would be very interested in knowing who had that honor. I asked Vinny when I was about to do my Pre order if he had an ION Director and what was it like. He told me that he did not have one in his possesion. I was kind of shocked that Vinny was not one of the Beta testers, but as you said maybe he just could not say.
Still it's kind of odd that they flew Vinny out to Germany to do the video. You would think that it would have been cheaper to just send him a unit.
