Good morning from Germany,

asking the users of the GHL KH Director which has the control over the alkalinity enabled: how stable is your
alkalinity? Measuring 12 times a day my alk swings between 7.1 and 7.7

i'm using sodium hydroxide for alkalinity.
Some swings should be normal in alk-consumption.... But this high? Any advice from experienced users (using the khd for a month now)?

Thanks
Thomas

I can’t help with the question, but I can bump the thread to see if we can get you some assistance

I also observe some alkalinity swings but the range of variation is not as wide. For the last two weeks max. has been 8.9 and min. 8.3 and the mean value has been 8.6. My set point is 8.5.
I measure three times a day and also use NaOH for alkalinity (Randy's recipe).
My settings for adaptive control are as follows:
at deviation actual value to nominal value: 0,2
adjust each dosing by this amount: 50%
limit raise: 100%
limit lower: 100%
calculated adjustment per dosing: -11%

From time to time I may observe a wider swing, but values come to normal in a short time.
I think that KH Director is a nice piece of equipment that works as it should. I wish I could say something similar about the ION Director.
