GHL Maxi setup?

I'm trying to set up the Maxi as an AWC system. I've downloaded the manual, installed the GCC, and updated the firmware. I connected the Maxi to my PC with the USB cable and everything seems to work until I try to connect to the Maxi. I selected the right USB port, but when I try to connect it doesn't do anything. I tried purposely connecting to the wrong USB port and it tells me immediately that a connection could not be established. Not sure what I'm doing wrong.

Well, I think I got it figured out. I'll have to wait until my son the geek (and I mean that in a kind, loving way) gets home to connect via WiFi. Hoping this all works out. I've put a small pile of money into it.
