Hi!
I’ve been experiencing a fairly strange situation in regards to my ORP:
When the probe is in the tank it’s constantly reading an ORP of 395-405 with just small fluctuations outside that range.
If I place the probe in a 220mv reference solution it reads almost right in the money, perhaps a little high.
I did run ozone on the tank but that has been shut of for about two weeks without any drop in orp what so ever. I did that as an experiment as I suspected that something was up with my reading.
My first thought was that there might be some stray current in the tank interfering with the probe so I systematically shut of everything single pice of equipment one by one to see if that was the case…it was not.
If I take a glass of tank water and place the probe in it still reads the same so there’s nothing realistically interfering with the probe.
From my understanding a redox over 400 really isn’t realistic if you’re not running ozone…but the probe does read right in reference solution so I have a hard time figuring out what’s going on.
I’ve cleaned and calibrated the probe several times so that’s not it.
One additional pice of information is that a while back the orp was stuck at around 280 and wouldn’t budge even if I ran my 200mg/h ozone unit full bore.
I’ve been trying to figure this out for a while but can’t really think of anything apart from a faulty probe…but why would it read correctly in reference solution in that case haha
Any and all input is welcome
