Setting up a new P4 and having an issue with the WiFi. I can connect but it will lose connection sometimes after a few minutes. This morning it stayed connected for about an hour but this afternoon it loses connection pretty quick after being connected. This is happening with GCC WiFi and GHL Connect. New system so firmware's are up to date. Comcast/Xfinity Wireless WiFi Modem/Router is only 20ft away and when connected to GCC i get 3 to 4 signal bars. The Comcast Modem/Router has a 802.11ac protocol at 5Ghz. I am thinking this may be the issue. I think but not sure that the P4 uses a different protocol b/g or b/g/c at 2.4Ghz. From what i have seen so far i really like the P4 and its capabilities but this WiFi connecting issue is driving me up a wall. My Hot Spot works just fine so that is a big plus. I am by no means a network expert so any recommendations would be appreciated.

Found the issue. Looks like the xi6-A Xfinity WiFi routers are weak at best. I put the P4 literally within inches of the router and i get 63 dbm which is a good signal and have not lost connection the past few hours. At a distance of 18 feet from the router the dbm drops down to 71-73dbm which is considered extremely poor signal. Guess i need to find a compatible WiFi booster that will work with the Xfinity router. Xfinity makes the WiFi pods but i read some bad reviews as far as boosting the signal. Glad to see this has nothing to do with the P4.

If the WiFi router has a Ethernet port, you can connect a new WiFi router to it and then just disable the old WiFi. I struggled using the xfinity wifi router and finally just blew a wad on a nighthawk WiFi router. Best $300 I ever spent. That thing blankets the whole block.

Thanks bluprntguy for the info. Unfortunately the wife works from home due to the virus and she does not want me to take a chance on loosing internet connection by attempting to configure a new router. Google recommendations for a compatible booster is either a Netgear ex3700, SE TEK Super Boost or TP-Link AC1750. Still doing some research but i appreciate the recommendation.

Profilux WiFi needs 2.4ghz. It won’t stay connected using 5. If you don’t have that capability with what you have then you’ll need to pick up a router that will. You can hook it right to your Ethernet out of your current router. Doesn’t have to be a fancy router just good enough to reach Profilux it’s signal. Nothing has to be turned off. Just have to switch the internet link in the Profilux. I have a nighthawk as well and love it.

Received my Xfinity Pods yesterday. They only boosted my dbm from -74 to -69 but the P4 stayed connected. This morning the dbm had increased to -54dbm. Nice. After doing a little research i found out that the Pods learn your connected devices and self adjust to optimize your WiFi usage. They say it takes a few days but only took 1 day. I was a little skeptical if these Pods would help but they did. Just a little info in case anyone else with Xfinity is having a issue with signal strength and wants another option.
