Does anyone know if the reef savvy ghost overflow uses special bulkheads in the two that connect the pieces together? The reason I ask is I bought one in 2017 for a frag tank that never happened and now that I am finally setting one up I misplaced the bulkhead nuts for what I thought were the two 1.5” bulkheads. So I bought a couple of new bulkheads to use their nuts but they will not actually screw on all the way. I get about two turns and it just sticks. I’ve thoroughly cleaned and scrubbed the threads, used some lube, and triple checked to make sure I’m not cross threading them. I am at a loss so was hoping for some insight from others. Thanks

+1 on above comment.

You might want to contact Reef Savvy directly. They are out of Miami, FL.

Thanks y’all, didn’t think about the outside threads having different types but in trying to search for that I didn’t find any. Where did you get different ones?

These type of overflows have them embedded so they are not removable. That’s the trade off you take for having a super thin interior box.

From my little knowledge it looks like I need a different NPT thread pitch but my googlefoo is failing me and I can’t find any specifics on this for a 1.5” bulkhead.

The outside can't be NPT. NPT is tapered, so it would not allow the overflow to fit on different thickness of tanks. It has to be some kind of straight thread. The inside connection is either NPT or slip fit I'm sure. (most likely slip on these i'm guessing)

Try measuring the thread pitch with a caliper and see if you can match it somewhere. might have to buy the whole bulkhead though.

Anyone else?

I can’t seem to find anyone online that even lists the thread pitch so not sure measuring it will even do me any good. I almost think the only thing I can try is to order from a couple different vendors to see if anything works but seems like playing the lottery.

Anyone with one notice any markings on theirs that might help narrow it down?

External threads are not NPT, but not all bulkheads have the same threads. I’ve a bunch of 1” bulkheads at home that are different and you cannot swap the nuts. You’ll have to ask RS what brand bulkhead they use.

Not to derail this too far, but can you still buy these ala cart?
I’m interested, but it looks like you can only buy them alongside one of thier tanks on thier site now?

Am I missing something?
Good luck with your nuts!

I’m not really sure if you can buy them stand alone anymore as I’ve had it a while but it is still listed on their site. I’m just surprised there isn’t a way to easily find a replacement part for something like this.
