How much water will drain after pump is shut off usually? I am getting slow trickle for a while. I am trying to set my sump water level now. I just don't want to have it too high.

Another question, do you glue the drain plumbing in the inside bulkheads? Thanks

#1 To prevent reverse siphon (slow trickle) pulling water from display to sump, u have to break the siphon. So , to do this it means at least one of your pipes has to have an outlet near or above the water level in the display tank. This outlet will become an "air hole" and break the siphon when your return pump is off. If u do this properly, only the water in the pipe(s) will drain back into sump.

#2 please be more specific. Are u talking about pvc attacked to bulkhead, or what? Is the bulkhead a slip/slip? if yes... Then yes, pvc pipe should be glued to the inside of the bulkhead.

Inside elbows in the box do not require gluing. PVC attached to outside of bulkhead box yes.

As for turning off pumps and siphon I use a check valve and it does the job. The best check valves are Fisher WYE valves.

I glued the outside plumbing for sure. The inside I used 2 sweeps, the full siphon has no vent, but the secondary I drilled a 1/4" hole in the top. I just slipped them in for now. It breaks siphon as I can hear it. I get a slow trickle into box and some drains down. I think it is ok though as I have tested several times and haven't had a flood yet. It does drain a little more than I would like though.
