I have two Maxxspect Ethereals and I was looking at buying the Giesemann Aurora 48" T5 LED Hybrid specifically for the control-ability. However now that I have seen the Dimmable Matrix II's I kinda think this might be a better way to go. What do you guys think, if the Aurora and the Matrix are both controllable then am I missing out on the LED module from the Aurora?

Can not go wrong with a t5 fixture. I have seen both in action and they both are nice units. I would go with the t5 unit as it is bulletproof.

Following! In the same boat for my 120 build on which of these 2 units to go with.

But am I losing any performance by not getting the hybrid?
If you turn the led's to 100% all of the time, as well as the t5's not dimmed, the aurora is marginally more powerful.

Math: 54x8 = 432 Watts of power
Math: 4x54 = 216 watts of power + (88x3=264w) = 480 Watts of power.

really either should grow coral, its more a question of do you want led shimmer, or do you want to save $1000 upfront?

more than that on savings as I would have to buy two of them for a 240 gallon. Ok thank you for the input! I think I will probably go with the Matrix as this is exactly what I was looking for and at a fraction of the cost.
