Giesemann Spectra wiring

Hi reef2reef! I just got a giesemann spectra and have a question on how to wire it to the ballast. The ballast is an ice cap. From looking at some of the post on here Im guessing I have to cut the connector on the ballast to expose the three wires then connect those wires to the metal halide
fixture. Is that right? Seems kind of strange to have to cut the connector on the ballast.
