Do you have to have to have a fixture from giesemann to put their bulbs in it. Also, does anyone have experience with giesemann in general?

You don't have to have a Geisemann Fixture to use their bulbs. They are excellent bulbs (and lights). I use them and ATI almost exclusively.

Hello from Roanoke btw :)

Thanks for the info, where can you buy a universal t5 fixture to put the bulbs in?

I bought a Hamilton 6 bulb fixture for my new tank (~$450). It seemed like the best value for a better quality light. There are a ton of somewhat cheaper vendors on eBay and Amazon, but you want to make sure that you get High Output ballasts on the light. If your lights are 48" long it would be 54w per bulb. I use an older 6 bulb lamp that has a timer built in, has LED nightlights, and it is pretty nice too, plus it doesn't have four power cords. That would be the downside of the Hamilton unit. I looked for the same fixture for my new build, but the manufacturer (can't remember the name of them) realized they had a great fixture and bumped the price point way up (~$700). What size fixture are you looking for?

Tank is 30 inches long

Shoot, I have a pretty nice 48" fixture you could have for next to nothing. It won't work over a 30" tank though.
