Isn't this the time of year when they start showing up @ wholesalers , etc ?? seem to remember in times past it was...

Hi yes, I recently astroturfed sri lanka's board of commerce website and found an exporter with some intel. See my email about a blue gig below. "North Sea season" starts btwn Nov 15 and Dec 15. I don't speak the local language so I've had minimal luck determining if this 'season' is a Sri Lanka fish & wildlife requirement, or something unique to this exporter.

If anyone lives near MIA or ATL I'd love to piggyback on their order. @Asagi ay sanka, you dead?

I actually know someone who speaks the language. Worked with one Sri Lankan dude a little while ago. DM me let’s chat.

Possibly related, I saw this in a "coming soon" ad today. Not sure, but it looks an awful lot like a Gigantea to me.

Here's hoping! I've only seen ASD get haddonis so far but maybe they're branching out. beautiful specimen regardless, corals anonymous has one that looks similar but is labeled as a mertens.

I've always thought "gig season" is usually around September-January. I've only see two in person this year, so the numbers are way down (though I haven't been going to as many LFS as well).

Many exporters and wholesalers just list gigantea, haddoni, and martensii as "carpet anemone" and you don't know what you're getting until you see it.

That image does look a lot like a gigantea, but I hate the way ASD blows out their photos. I can never tell the true color or shape.

Yea, looking at it more, it's safe to assume that the subject pictured is just a green carpet nem that's 80% bleached but under blue lighting. And saturated to hell in post

New bleached gig is listed at coralsanonymous, they're great if you can do local pickup. Recommend a zoox transplant to help it color up.

ASD listed that nem as a "Million Stars Haddoni" but claimed it had verucae on insta. Asking for a pic of the column to confirm the species.

Harry's Marine Life has 3-4 gigantea in stock. Varying shades of green, and one big brown one. They've also got some of those crazy mertensii with the white tips, and some tiny pink ones with white patterns on the outer rim.

Very responsive on fb (messenger) and their shop is massive if you're local.

tentacle pattern looks more like a haddoni so i'd confirm with vendor before buying

CA just listed a couple new gigs, same color variant as the brown/green in my gig thread, local pickup recommended (placentia, CA). mine was basically in perfect condition right out of the bag.

It’s not the most ‘desirable’ color combo but it’s a really beautiful specimen once it gets cooking

Looks pretty good in the video.

dont let that color stop you..I ordered one of those wintermint last yr and after qt it progressively turned more blue/purple..it is now a beautiful specimen. !

FWIW... I tried to order one of these when they were in stock back in December. The day my order was supposed to be shipped I got a refund and an email saying they had an inventory issue. This didn't pop up as a new item on their site so I am thinking these are not current photos - either the anemones weren't looking good enough to ship in December, or if they got new stock, these are old pictures of a previous batch. Also, I think the video is of the larger size which is out of stock right now.

All that said, I may try to talk my wife into letting me try again. :grinning-face-with-smiling-eyes:
