Gigantea confirmation

Hey all,

I wanted to get some more experienced eyes on this anemone, I believe it's a gigantea? I just don't recall seeing these markings on sides of the base before though. It's a tan color, looked to have some multicolored iridescence at the LFS. That was a bluer light. It was in a tank full of haddonis.

Sorry for the poor quality pictures, it's currently in QT and getting cipro treatment.

Tomorrow is day 3 of treatment. I went too heavy on antibiotics first two days, I'll be backing down to 1.25mg/5g water volume going forward. I will say I didnt noticed a full deflate this evening.

Yup, it’s a gigantea. The spots (verracue) actually are a key identifying feature when distinguishing the type of carpet anemone.

So I’m on the last day of treatment. I haven’t seen a true deflate since day 2. I noticed yesterday at lights out it was slightly turned in like it is here. So not a deflate per say. It’s been pretty bushy and it’s angle hasn’t let me get a good eye on it’s mouth but overall it looks alright.
I’m wondering if I should complete treatment and move to dt? I’m worried that little flood may not be doing enough long term.

Sorry should have taken a picture before water change/antibiotic dose. I’ll try to get a picture once lights are on. Maybe that’ll tell me more of it opens all the way up?

You could spend a few days observing in the hospital tank, start adding DT water to see how it reacts to those parameters.

That’s a good idea. It’s been good for the last week. I just stress over having such a sensitive animal in 5 gallons of water in my garage. It may be my best bet though, as long as the light is adequate.

It does look good at this point. Personally, I’d probably go ahead and try the DT, but I tend to be less risk adverse than some on this sort of thing. You can watch it in the DT and pull it if it starts to go south.
