I put in my order Friday when I saw the announcement by LA. Been waiting a long time for one....

I plan on keeping it in my Rubbermaid sump the 150g is 60" by 39" and mostly empty so that will hold it a long time, and I could easily get the 300g one later on since it's in the basement. Although it says they are 1-2" now so it's going to be a couple years before it's even very large.

Is it bad that I am contemplating putting this in a reefer 450? Haha.

I'm quite interested, but $200 for a ~2" clam is more than I can swing now. With a larger, healthy gigas, you'd probably not need any sort of nutrient removal equipment. You'd probably have trouble keeping nutrients in the system.

This is a holy grail for me. Now that I can get one, I found myself questioning my decision since even though I have a 36x36 area for one, that is one heck of a commitment.

If this is off topic, please delete it, but this is how bad that LA has gotten... that photo in their post is nothing like the clams that you actually get from ORA. Would it kill them to post a representative photo? They are all over the web.

I have wanted another for such a long time. The one I had before was the yellow with blue dots like the image. I find that really attractive. I am just really afraid of the tiny juveniles and what their survival rate will be.

I agree. I'm afraid of coughing up $200 for a 2 inch clam and then it craps out on me. I havent had luck with the smaller clams. Only the Bigger ones like 4 inches plus have survived for me.

I don’t want to be negative but I’ve never gotten a clam from them that survived long term. That has just been my experience, I am sure others have had good luck with them. Have lots of clams doing great... but not from here. If i could actually hand pick the one that I wanted, still firmly attached to its substrate and not thrown around buy UPS for 18 hours, I would be tempted. I'm still tempted but my last order with them cost me 1500.00 and was almost a total loss. I have made some calls to some other suppliers to see if they have availability. Patience...

Very clean shell, opened quickly. Will post pic there when opens more, but it's quite different than other clams have has in that the center is low, hard to explain but will get pics in a bit.

Wow, that’s terrible. I have several ORA clams. One for about 6 years now. I think the majority of clams sold into the trade domestically come from them, am I wrong?
