It actually seems to be doing better. Probably to early to consider myself out of the woods yet, but she is eating well and more energetic.

Did the lump on my lion look anything like yours? I have more pictures, if needed. That was a gill abscess on my fish. It actually seemed to reduce a couple of times which was probably deflated from leaking fluid. It filled back up, though, and yet the fish lived a long time with it.

Yes it kinda did look like that. I wonder if an abscess is anything like an embolism?

No, it's not the same thing BUT an embolism could cause an abscess. An embolism blocks something, so it blocked the natural flow of blood/fluids and caused congestion in the area. That congestion can cause an abscess.
