Giving up on catching!!

Borrow a couple/few reservoirs and pump the water down to a couple inches. Fish are very easy to catch then ;) Pump water back in. Corals will be fine during this period, just turn lights off. I've done this many times in all size tanks with no ill effects and you always get the fish in question.

+1

Another good option if you can do it.

We caught a naughty tomato clown with the little fly fishing hook. Just make sure it has it in its mouth before yanking. You do not want it to swallow the hook. Make sure you have a very small pair of needle nose pliers or something similar to get the hook out. The fish showed no ill effects, he was eating within an hour of being moved to his new home.

We had to get the hooks at Bass pro, our academy didn't have them small enough. Put a chunk of meat on the hook and be patient lol.

Ours was in a 220g packed with rocks and corals. Nets were useless, tried the bottle trap and it didn't work either. (He just kept ramming it to get the food to come out without having to go inside)

Get the biggest net you can find and hold it in the center if the tank, then chase the fish around with a smaller net so it swims into the big net. I caught a damsel like this in about 15 seconds

Wierd behavior. Mine Is Very friendly. My best success Is after lights out as fish DO sleep.

Or just drain the water out to a container. and catch them with low or no water which is super easy.

Pardon my ignorant question but you were putting his fav food in the bottle when you tried it? I have never had the bottle fail. I wouldn't add anyone in there more aggressive than him that will only led to you one losing him anyways or even if the new guy does put him in check you will just have a new bully on your hands. I wold try the fish hook last means only you run the risk of damaging his lip/mouth and could cause him not to eat and or just a nasty scar from it which would make it harder to get good value on trade.

I've caught A LOT of fish on a hook and line - and not just in aquariums. (That's cheating!!! :D)

Significant damage to the fish is possible - so is significant damage to your self if you aren't careful - but very, very unlikely IME.

Significant damage from stress of being chased is guaranteed - even for the fish that aren't being chased and the owner too.

If someone already had a trap I'd say use it since it's the least stressful (as long as the fish doesn't have to spend any time in the trap! Don't use a trap when you aren't there to tend to it!), but IME fish get wise to them very quickly. I wouldn't spend much time waiting (<48 hrs) for it to work. I would not spend money on a trap in most cases. Depending on the fish, there are DIY traps that could be worth trying, within the aforementioned limits. :)

Of all the posts so far, draining the tank to facilitate netting or catching with a hook are my favorites. Try whatever is easiest for you first, of course.

Edit: Somehow I missed post #2! :D The mirror trick. (Place a mirror next to the tank somewhere - hopefully the Powder thinks it's another of his kind and starts ignoring everyone else.) Not quite a guarantee, but easy and low-stress to try out! I wouldn't spend a whole lot of time (<72 hours) waiting for this one either, however. Either it'll work or it won't.

Unless you are trying to save another tankmate from the offender, try whatever is easiest for you first. If it's a matter of saving another fish, I'd find my closest fly-fishing supplier a.s.a.p.
