same here every other xoa n my tank is thriving and multiplying like bunnies but the damm rasta zoas just decide not to open or thrive. but just in case you can try what i try when some of my zoas close up for a while a give them a dip in revive coral cleaner they wont open that day but next day they usually look a lot better

Dip in furan 2! This has been a major help in controlling loss and keeping polyps healthy. Especially for Hawaiian Morphs.

I dip everything in furan 2 with fresh tank water and let soak for around 15 min. Then i do an iodine dip rinse before returning to tank. I don't use a lot of iodine just a few drops in a small container with fresh tank water. Repeat this every day or every other day for a week or so.

As far as bleaching goes that could be because of too much light. 20k seems to bring out the best colors IMO.

So You Can
KEEP CALM AND REEF ON!!

I do actually have 2 colonies of PE's (smackin myself lol) Jolly Green Giant PE's :) They do well most of the time but one colony likes to invert their oral disc and fold the skirt under their disc, any thoughts.....??? Online search is very contradictory from what I see. So any input is appreciated ;)

That goes for me also, can't keep Clementines, it would almost melt to nothing then a few weeks later the little fellow would open up again but not the same size as it was before. I could never keep Neptheas also bought it so many times a few days later would melt into a dark mold like it got burned or something...But everything else is fine...

I have a few very nice zoas growing like crazy until I started running chemiclean. Now I learn zoas do not like carbon media. i would be very careful when using any carbon media. They get irritated, look weirded, and eventually close until they melt.

I have a problem with hawaii pes. They grow too quick and are super beautiful. All kidding aside when i first got my tank i could't keep blue agaves possibly high nitrates after I added a fuge and my nitrates dropped now they do amazing. I also gave up on clementines after a few months they just close and melt.

Anyone wanna chime in on the Zoa turning inside out issue?

My green PE's were doing fine in one spot for about 7 months, probably 60+ polyps, moved them two inches to the right to make room for more frags, and they closed up, started to bleach and looked funny, moved them within a week, I figured that I have moved them from the middle (Least amount of light in my tank) to closer to direct light from my LED's, So just my experience but they apear to not like direct LED lighting (strong cree 3w LED's) they're doing fine though now.

Dsdaley, im not sure why they do they, I Just got in a frag of about 10 polys called "Pucker Up Pinks" And they all looked like that at first, hence the "pucker up" name, but now after about 3 weeks in my tank they've flattened out, all but 2 or 3. So Im goin to tag along with you and figure out what was goin on with these, theyre right in the middle lke my PE's and receive a good amount of flow, maybe more flow helps open them up?

Anybody tried dosing Vitamin C when they just start to lose color? I have in the past and it seemed to work miracles. I have some fire and ice that are turning a much darker color than they were, but everything else looks perfect and growing well.

Couldn't help myself, saw this 6 polyp frag for $5 and well, you know the rest ;)

Gonna keep em in the sump for a bit, the water stays 1-2 degrees warmer and has decent light. Kinda curious, we shall see :)
