Last week my car battery died so I bought this jump starter:

Good thing I had this because yesterday power went out for 14 hours at night when shops are closed. Normally where I live when power goes out it never lasts more than 2 hours so I never bothered get UPS. Was able to use this jump starter to power both tanks for 14 hour+ with plenty of juice left. No casualties

Ordered a dedicated UPS this morning:)

Not sure what a ups is but glad you bought the car jump starter and powered your tanks whilst had power cut.
Im 43 years old and cant even remember when we last had a power cut.maybe when in my 20's electric board give us notice they going have a pre planned power outage

UPS = uninterrupted power supply
basically it's a battery you can plug in to charge all the time. And you plug all your tank equipment into it. when power goes out it automatically switches to battery power so your tank is not interrupted

Ok fair enough,thanks for info.
As i cant even remember when last had power outage here in england i won't be buying one but sods law now states i will have power outage next week and all my tank dies ^_^

Do you only have your essential life support plugged into there?

I plugged in return pump, heaters, powerheads, skimmer, ATO only. my systems are quite small(32G AIO and 75G with 20G sump). If you have a large system with high power equipment probably just connect return pump and heater, depending how long you need the battery to last. Or have multiple UPS powering different equipment

You can calculate how long the battery is going to last using the capacity of the UPS and the wattage of your equipment
