I have a 40 gallon breeder I’m going to use to make a sump. Where is the cheapest place to get custom cut glass and or acrylic to make the dividers? Also, would I need to purchase the silicone online, or would a place like Home Depot have it?

hi,go with glass ,acrylic seal will eventually fail to glass, yes you can get silicone at H D ,just make sure aquarium safe. :)

You can buy the glass sheets at hardware stores and the cutting tool is usually $10 or less. You'll want to smooth the edges so you don't cut yourself when the glass is installed.

Look for a local glass contractor. They can cut it to specs for a reasonable price.

I just built this one it’s all about your prep in my opinion.

I have always gone to a local glass shop and had them cut pieces. I’d recommend aquarium silicone bought either online or a LFS. Anything not food safe can’t be trusted as aquarium safe.
