The only algae I ever get in my tank is on my glass and I have no idea what is causing it. My NO3 is 0 (salifert) and my PO4 is 0 (Hanna checker). I run my halides for 7 hours a day and my bulbs are fairly new. I've got no idea what is causing it. Anybody else have this problem and a possible solution?

Everyone has to wipe thier glass down. What kind of algae are we talking about here?

True, but it seems mine seems to grow at an expedited pace. It's typically just the green glass algae. I can't think of the name of it though

Do your lights hit the glass directly? In spots where mine hits, it grows quicker than the rest.

Do you have a refuge tank growing algae? There is a normal amount of algae growth in all tanks. I always found that having a place like a refuge tank with 24x7 lighting will allow algae to grow and soak up nutirents in the water that might not read as nitrates or phosphates. Do you have a picture of the algae growth before and after cleanings with a time period between cleanings? What do you have for a cleanup crew I.E. snails?

Have a fuge with plenty of cheato, ulva, etc. (gotta keep it stocked with live food for my purple tang). Like probably everybody else, my macro grows like crazy and I have to trim it up from time to time. As far as a picture, I do not have one at the time. I'm going to do a water change tomorrow and add some rowaphos (sp?) just to see if that eliminates it at the source.

As far as a cleanup crew, I have approximately 4 turbos (I like to keep them lightly stocked), 10 large nassarius, 6 or so astreas, and an uncountable number of trochus snails. I've had a ton of luck with trochus as I get a good breeding out of them monthly. Also, I have red scarlet hermits, blue knuckle hermits, and a few blue leg hermits

What do you consider to be an expedited pace? My 3+ y.o. tank has 0 nitrates, 0 phoshates, large dedicated refugium, no algae problems, and I do scrub the glass algae 2X-3X a week.

You can also try and cut back feeding a bit, it might help. But I don't think you are in trouble by any means. Is your glass completely covered?
