After adding some fish I’m dealing with a crazy glass algae problem. I clean it and it comes right back the next day. Any suggestions?
ps new to the hobby less than a year in. No sump or fuge, just HOB filter for now.
Algae on the glass means there is nutrients in the tank which is a good sign since a tank without any algae on the glass means no nutrients. Excessive algae on glass may be a result of excessive nutrients combined with high intensity lighting. I would just check what your nitrate and phosphate is and start from there.
If it's on your glass then assume it is on everything,, how often do you clean your hob filter?. cleaning this more often will help, also reducing your lights intensity will help.
If you can share more information like size of aquriam, filter type, lighting type, parameters will help us provide better help for you

If all your numbers are good try a uv sterilizer. After adding one I went from cleaning the glass every other day to once a week. I does not remove algae from the rock, glass or sand. It only kills the algae in the water column before it can settle there. Good luck.
