My glass gets coated with some brown stuff (not diatoms) almost every 24hours or less.....so I clean my glass every single day - is this normal for all of you as well? I'm still puzzled where this brown crap comes from if it's not diatoms.

Mine gets a fine layer of brown in 24-36 hours. What's strange is that my display tank is in the house and lit by (12) Rabion G6 Pros. The right end of the tank (750g) get's morning sunlight straight through the Glass doors on the back of the house.

And while the tank requires all most daily wipe downs, I have 2 outdoor frag tanks - Fully exposed to the sunlight - nothing shading them - that get lit from sunrise to sunset- Those tanks get green algae - almost no brown - and it takes about 10 days before they need to wiped.

Normal and a sign of a healthy system

i have to wipe mine every 2-3 days. i have a 40B lit by 2x hydra 32hd's + reefbrite kits each.

Yeah, I do mine every second day or so; thin layer of brown/green but nothing to worry about. When you look at it, you think you can hardly see it. Once it's gone, you notice the difference! :beaming-face-with-smiling-eyes:

Daily pass on the glass. I have a spot where my cap just grew out in front and I can’t get there. Now it’s coraline. Have to get the blade out.
