Glass crack. Please help.

I have a 16 gallon biocube an i just did my first water change and noticed a crack in the tank!!! Small hairline crack on the top right side of tank. Please tell me how to fix!! I just started about 2 weeks ago!

Not leaking. Can feel crack from inside of glass. Can’t feel on outside.

Is there anything i can do to make sure it doesn’t break and spill everywhere??

I would start draining it immediately. You're only two weeks in and it's not worth the risk of chancing a disaster when you're not even through your cycle. The crack is only going to get worse, given that there's constant pressure on it. Eventually, it will give out.

I will tell you I have had 2 tank disasters on a 55 gallon blew the front bottom seam water hit the ceiling, the other was my big dogs fault but keep a very good eye on it if it grows it is a problem there really is not a good way to fix it that I know about

I used turbo start and i have already gotten fish inverts and a coral inside.

That'll definitely make it more of a project, but I'd still drain ASAP.

I hate to say this, but you must re-home your fish and inverts to another tank ASAP or risk a complete tank failure and possible loss of everything.

Ok, make sure it is a crack first. We had another person swear they had a crack on the inside not the outside and it turned out to be some kind of deposit. So while gently applying pressure grab a scouring bad, the green kind and see if any comes off. You can apply the same amount of pressure from the other side of the glass to prevent any further francturing of the glass just in case.

Are you positive it’s a crack and not just a scratch, reason I ask is if it’s a crack usually you will feel it on both sides of the glass. If it’s a crack your gonna need to replace the tank. Being that it’s at the very top and it’s a small tank, and you don’t feel it on one side it shouldn’t blow out any second. I would take the pic with you to the store you bought it from and ask for a replacement. If it was lower in the tank and if it was a large aquarium, and you could feel it on both sides and 100% positive of a crack then I would drain it below the crack asap.

Many of us have been in your situation. And we all want the same thing; for people to tell us it's "okay" or not to worry... its good.

If it is in fact a crack, you are NOT good. Catastrophic failures in this instance are not a question of IF, but a question of WHEN.

You have a lot of work ahead of you. But monetarily, you are looking a the cost of a few tubs to temporarily hold your water and tank contents.

If you wait, and there is a failure, now you are looking at a loss of everything in the tank, not to mention the THOUSANDS of dollars in damage to your home. And if you rent an apartment, that's worse.

Please break it all down before you are posting a thread about a catastrophic failure.

I'd try and scrape it with a razor blade to see it is just something on the glass first.

Yeah, I think it is a good possibility that is a string of dried silicone. Odd shape for a crack. But if it is, You need to evacuate everything out of it that you want to save.

Like you said, I think it's silicone too. Cracks usually are more ridged, what is pictures has round curves. OP take a razor blade and go over the "crack". If its just silicone it should come off.

If it's truly a crack swap it out immediately. 2 weeks in should still be in the return zone of most dealers. If you bought at a local store, maybe you can get them to give you the replacement so you can take it home, swap everything over and then return the busted one. If bought online, you're gonna have a harder time.
Either way, don't mess around. It's not a ton of water, but it's still a lot of SALT water, and that's a bigger problem. If it's a crack, this will fail. Maybe not tomorrow or next month, but it will happen and at the most inconvenient moment. Don't mess around with it
