Glass for Dividers in a Sump

Is "Single Plate Glass" useable? It seemed very flimsy.

I'm just putting dividers in a sump (12x9 for 1 and 12x6 for three)

Most will say no. I have used it though quite successfully in a 10 gal sump though. If you are are doing anything bigger then that I would go for 1/4" glass.

That should work fine. I use 3/32" glass for my baffle. Rly thin, but theY will hold just fine. There is no pressure being put on the baffles in your sump.

If you're talking about the plate glass you typically find in Lowe's and HD for repairing a broken pane in an old style window......Yes, that's too thin.....I think 3/32". Go to a glass shop. I prefer 1/4" glass....although you're only going 12 inches, you might be able to get away with 3/16. Note that you might need to convert these dimensions to millimeters because that's how some glass comes now.

I've used 10 and 15 gallon tanks as sumps, with relatively thin glass that I siliconed in to make dividers - might have even been picture frame glass. It worked pretty well, you just need to be careful when you're maneuvering around in there. I actually cracked one of the dividers once, but it still held water and continued to work fine for years (not that much pressure differential).

One tip I can give you: Go to an office or school supply place, and pick up some clear plastic report covers like this:

The plastic edge pieces work really great as edge protectors for the glass dividers, and make them a lot safer to work around. They're easy to cut to whatever length you need.
