Glass-Holes 700 return elbow is leaking. Need help!

This is how I have mine installed. I have the flange in the back and the nut inside of the box (the opposite of how the OP has his). The street 90 screws into the flange side and the nut is easily removed inside the box, so it is easy to disassemble. I use 1" silicone tubing on the drain side.

I think this is a thread on thread leak. Male elbow thread into a female threaded bulkhead. Teflon tape should stop the leak as it's not under pressure. Now if it's cracked, that's different.

there is no such things as 'teflon' tape as the company who makes teflon (chemours) has never made this type of tape. i think you are referring to pipe thread sealant tape. that stuff was never intended to create water proof seals with plastic fittings. it should not be used in our hobby for pipe joints.

Or just unthread it, clean the threads inside and out and use some Teflon tape on the male threads.

Just a primer but for everyone; teflon tape isn't for threaded PVC joints, it's meant for metal fittings like tapered brass. A teflon sealant like Oatey great white compound is what to use.

I have used “Teflon” tape in the past with great success, though not with pressure fittings. No leaks.

Silicone will work just fine as a permanent fix. It’s a gravity drain, so zero water pressure. As long as you can seal it 100% it will be fine

I think you installed your backwards. Well I don't think, I know you did. Look at the instructions again. Nut is suppose to go on the inside and you also have to cut the threaded side to match your glass thickness. None of the threads should be visible once done.

It’s installed correct. It wouldn’t fit the other way. Here’s my 7 year old version

Maybe he has a different version from mine.
But if it works it's all good.
My return lines look like the picture you and the OP put up.

Is yours from Glass-Holes? Other overflow/return systems do it the exact opposite. If it wasn’t Glass-Holes, your lfs probably has it right!

Oh I see. You’re looking at the overflow here. My problem was with the return side. My overflow side looks the same as yours.
