Glass or Acrylic

Acrylic is the HD version of your tank.
A definite answer about acrylic, it will bother a lot of people.
It is not beginners, acrylic won´t scratched by itself, if you know what you are doing, you have fixed aquascape, and you are careful it won´t be a problem.
It is more resistant, cleaning with a aqua-blade will get the job done, but it will take you a good 40min once a week.

we dont have acrylic tanks in the u.k. as a norm, and have always had glass from the year dot, with no problems at all

If you were shopping for a XL (450+) size tank what would you choose and why?

Def pick Acyrlic. Cost more but its scratch resistant, stronger, clearer, stronger bound than glass.

My tank is glass, All Glass Aquarium brand. Other than a couple of scratches still in excellent shape. It’s 25 years old now, next tank will be glass. Very easy to keep coralline scraped of glass. When I worked at LFS, very few people purchased them and most of them didn’t like them as SW tanks. We had one in store, gave away after a year due to the fact it scratched very easy. Matter of preference but I think you would be happier with glass in the long run.
