what do you guys prefer to own? Glass tanks or acrylic and why? I have owned both and i just cant stand acrylic and wanted to see what you guys think.

I like both so I have my own rule of thumb I go by. If its larger than 125g I go acrylic. Smaller than that its glass. I personally like glass tanks much better, just scared of popping seams

i usually prefer acrylic over glass mainly because of optical clarity and lighter wieght.i have owned both glass and acrylic and still have an acrylic tank for my kids.the kids tank is a 17" cube that i made from 1" thick acrylic.it was drops from a larger rimless i made and couldnt see it going to waste so i made the small cube and gave it to them.i was going to give them the elos mini i now use but know that teenage boys play rough and figured they would break the glass tank.the acrylic tank being 1" thick was the clear choice for them since it is basicly bulletproof and i know there is no way in hell they could break it rough housing in thier bedroom lol.

I just can't beleive when people say acrylic is clearer than glass. someone help me understand this. every acrlyic tank i have ever seen has never looked "clearer" than my glass tank at home.

i really dislike acrylic its just to easy to scratch up and personally that beats lightweight and higher temp everyday just my opinion

it is a fact, acrylic is opticly clearer than glass.even starphire isnt as clear as a clean well maintained acrylic tank.

i guess the problem is it being clean. no acrlyic i've ever seen is perfectly clean and scratch free

i like acrylic for more frag tanks. i personally wouldnt want an acrylic tank unless i struck it rich and could build some crazy ridiculous monster tank

For me it is glass just because I have had acrylic tanks and I actually scratched them just by looking at them... I have even scratched glass tanks but I had to really work at it....

i think i would scratch the **** out of an acrylic tank thats why i have to go glass im a little rough with the scraper

I just got my first monster, its a 280 starphire, and although it weighs enough to completely pop a nut, I dont think the clarity can be beat.

lets see a picture of that 280 i bet its a best. is it setup or are you on your way to setting it up?
