I'm sure this topic has been discussed before, but I'm just curious what people's opinions are between glass and acrylic tanks? I've never had an acrylic aquarium, but am contemplating some options. Any recommendations/opinions would be greatly appreciated. Definitely going to be on the smaller size, less than 50 gallons and reef-ready/drilled. Thank you!

This is just my opinion but i really like acrylic for the clarity and alsi if you do scratch it you can easily buff it out. No with that being said i will never own another acrylic aquarium it scratches way to easy and having 3 kids i think i spent more time buffing than enjoying. Good luck with your decision.

As a primary Display Tank - GLASS ... although acrylic can be buffed out, it scratches to easy! And yes, I have had an acrylic display tank.

As a secondary or Frag tank, acrylic because it's lighter and easier to move around.

I have always chosen glass because I have heard if you get behind a little on cleaning then you are in for a major headache with acrylic. Also the scratching issue as well.

acrylic, to many failure worries with glass anf its SUPER heavy.

if your careful acrylic is fine, ive owned many, many arcylic tanks and im very careful with them and no issues. just dont be in a hurry when you clean it.

buffing is ok, but it does cause distortions and is never really the same. so do not go into thinking if it gets scratched i can buff it, just not the right mind set.

ill never have a glass tank again. but to each his own :-)
